W&S Summer Safari Suit: Fittings
If you have been following me on Instagram, you may recall several of my stories on designing a summer safari suit/ jacket. In brief, the concept behind this creation is that it would be a casual suit which could also work beautifully as statement pieces on their own. After all, chances of wearing separates in summer are even higher than during the colder seasons. Now, instead of the bold color palette which I notoriously chose for some of my existing pieces, I've come to th

London Super Trunk Show 2019
In the age where Instagram and other social media platforms allow you to discover artisans from all over the world, it is a pity that it is still quite difficult to get access to their crafts if they are located on the opposite side of the globe. This is why I love events like the London Super Trunk Show. Hosted by Shoegazing and The Shoe Snob, London Super Trunk Show is an annual event that brings together shoemakers from around the world, with more than 10 brands exhibiting

Polo Coat Design Project: Review
Bespoke tailoring is all about being personal. Not only in the sense that the fit of the garment fits you exceptionally but more importantly it allows you to create something which is unique to your needs and character. And so this is clearly reflected on this polo coat I've designed. I should start off by saying this, by far, is my best bespoke tailoring experience. That's because most of my initial vision for the overcoat is materialized, if not ended up being even better.

Suit Supply MTM Suit: Reflections
This is a part of a series on an MTM 3 piece suit made for me by Suit Supply. Click here to learn more about part II of the series, which I addressed my first-fitting experience at the store and the alterations I went for after putting on the garment. First of all, apologies to those of you who have been looking forward to this article for a while. The reason why this writing has been taking a while has to attributed to the fact that my thoughts on this suit have changed quit

Polo Coat Design Project: Fittings
Coat design is very fascinating, yet at the same time quite challenging. And this applies especially to the fitting process. Unlike suits or trousers, there are many variables that you could add to the design - whether it would be a pleat at the back or a buckle belt around the garment. Altogether, this makes the fitting process for an overcoat much more complicated. Welcome back to this series which I am documenting my Polo Coat Design Project from scratch to completion. Don

Whitcomb & Shaftesbury Trousers: Review
You know the feeling that when you've been waiting for a bespoke garment to be completed for a while, that you start to wear it very often once you've received it? Well, it's not something which I would recommend you to do; but this has been the case for me with the trousers which I've commissioned through Whitcomb and Shaftesbury earlier on. Overall speaking, I am quite satisfied with the result of this lovely pair of trousers. To begin with, it has very a clean front which

Polo Coat Design Project: Prologue
I always wish I could understand the importance of investing in timeless and durable overcoats earlier in my life. The problem, however, was that I had been living in cities with very different winter climate for the past few years (namely New York and Boston vs London vs Hong Kong), that there wasn't really the incentive to look for overcoats which I could wear in different places. But now that I am finally based in London (at least for a little while longer), I could finall

First of all, I am happy to announce that after weeks of waiting, I was finally able to pop back to Suit Supply for the first-fitting for my Made-To-Measure suit that I commissioned back in October. In case if you are wondering, the rea

Click here to learn more about the prologue of the series, which I addressed the concept behind this pair of trousers as well as moments during my first visit there. I found the first-fitting process is always the most exciting part about getting something tailored -- you could start to see how the garment is starting to come together nicely from the original piece of clot

Suit Supply MTM Suit: Prologue
There is a recurring question that I have received quite often from my readers that captivates me a lot -- 'How do you find a long-lasting and well-fitted suit when you have a limited budget to start off with?' Indeed, as much as I would encourage you to go bespoke (not only because you are getting a garment which takes years of experience to make, but only due to the sustainability and longevity element which I always emphasize about); I have to admit that they are extremely

Click here to learn more about part III of the series, which I addressed the time I went for the second-fitting, as well as how the suit is finally coming together. First off, I can't explain how exciting the moment was when I finally received the suit from Tai Pan Row. After all, this is the suit that I spent the most time on designing and choosing the fabrics. I have

Whitcomb & Shaftesbury Trousers: Prologue
As much as people may say it is not the most practicable color to wear in London, I love wearing cream-colored garments. It is versatile, goes well with almost everything, and bridges the gap between more formal and casual colors. After a summer of wearing cream linen trousers intensively, however, I realized I actually don't have anything equivalent which I could wear during the colder seasons of the year. It was around the same time that I came across to this beautiful ecr

Shoemaking Experience With Artisan.M.Workshop
As a menswear enthusiast, I think it is quite important to pay attention to the craftsmanship behind the garments we wear. Not only because it is sensible for us to be more aware of why our clothings are crafted in a certain manner; but more importantly there is no better ways to recognize and appreciate the effort put forth by the artisans than this. Thus, during my trip back to Hong Kong, I decided to learn more about shoemaking by attending a handmaking leather shoe course

TPR 3 Piece Suit - Prologue
Going back to my hometown, Hong Kong, is always an exciting experience. It is particularly fascinating this time, however, as I finally had a suit which I have planned for months commissioned. For this next series to be featured on my blog, I will be sharing as much details as possible regarding my bespoke-tailoring experience with Tai Pan Row. This will include my early creative-designing process and my first visit there, the reason why I am choosing this tailor house, the v
